recuperator plunger too long
recuperator plunger too long
I find that the recuperator plunger (the piece that bears against the barrel) is about 1/4 inch too long making it impossible to install the barrel without depressing the plunger with a screwdriver first. I have added a spacer which holds the plunger in the recuperator housing far enough to allow a barrel to be installed but am puzzled by the problem. I have other plungers but they are all the same length. The receiver dimensions appear to be in order - fits in lafette mount and barrel gate closes and latches fine. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

can I sugest beveling the head of the plunger instead of the spacer ?
not having seen it i'm concerned it may work loose and removing the recuperator to reinstall it would not be fun.

Its amazing anything works right around here with a bunch of
over-age juvenile delinquents running the place.

I had to stone the bevel on the front plunger before the barrel would go in. It wasn't much but just enough to allow the barrel to seat. Slowfinger is right. You have some tweaking to do with these rebuilds. I don't care how careful you are welding the receiver. I had to cut one side of the front section of mine and re-align it. When the welds cooled it was pulled to the right slightly. Cutting and rewelding cured that. Windage is dead on now.
