Breda 30

Just about anything goes but no MG42 or MG34 talk.

Breda 30

Post by JBaum »

I'm translating a German manual for the Italian Breda 30 and need a question answered.

Anybody have a parts kit they can look at for me?

jbaum,

There was an individual that posted on GunBrokerAuctions that had a Breda-30. Possibly there.....or two other sources that may help:

Bob-Landis of Ohio Ordnance (?).
The people up at what use to be LongMountainOutfitters (?).

Possibly the French-MG-Board (?)......they talk about other MGs besides the MG42 and MG34......and they know some English.

Last chances might be to post a "WTK" (Want-To-Know) ad up in the NFA-Section of the Sturm.-Board (?)......or to see if there are any WWII Italian-Reenactors on the WWII-Reenactor-Forums.

I have a complete transferable gun in 6.5mm, what do you need to know?

1. The manual talks about pushing the latch under the rear sight, then

2. Hold the buttstock with the right hand until the lug turns toward the left and take it off while holding with counter pressure on the recoil spring.

While that's what it says, it's not necessarily exactly what they mean. "until the lug turns toward the left"?

A rewording of the above second sentence to have it be clear what is happening is my goal.

I'll pull the gun out of the safe and look at it tonight.

But I'm pretty sure it's just like taking the butt-stock assembly off of a 34 or 42, you hold in the catch and turn the butt-stock either clockwise or counter-clockwise and the butt-stock and pistol-grip comes off under pressure with the recoil spring. But I will check it out for sure and get back to you tomorrow.

I think I have a copy of the German manual for it also somewhere.
