WW2 era MG42 belt loader modified to only load 308??
So I bought what I thought was an all original WW2 era MG42 belt loader. Got it, and it is covered in waffen marks, etc, but the hopper was actually modified to only fit and load 308 rounds. I tried it with loading my HK21 belts, and it is WAY WAY better than a normal HK21 loader. Has anyone else seen this before? Is this rare, or junk now?

Sounds like its time to find a new hopper. Nice find. Before a load or two of .308 loaders came to the States folks used to redo 8mm to use .308. Believe there is a thread on this on the site.
Post a few pics if you get the chance.

The Austrian Army modified almost all of their WWII loaders to 7.62 NATO so most you will find have the Nazi Chicken markings on them; there should be a small BH stamp on it somewhere as well. Harry
