Rear sight removal / refit

Hello.
Want to replace my original mg42 rear site ( just sight not AA sight )
Has anybody every removed one from its frame?
Any tips, advice much appreciated.

Lift sight all the way up and then after it locks in position allow it to come down to a sitting open position. Sometime during that last move the side pin should be able to be removed. If you have a "flap"/"cover" that has been added to the barrel latch open the latch. After the pin is pulled lift rear sight out. Try not to allow the spring housing to snap closed to the sight. If you like your fingers make sure they are clear if it happens. If it does slow easy pressure should get it to the lock open position again. To install reverse what you did.
