MG08 Fuzzee Cover Marking 1918

Dolf states in his book that the change over to the unmarked fuzzee spring covers occurred in 1918. I am curious how common is it to find 1918 dated MG08s with both the top cover and fuzzee cover marked with manufacturer data and date?

If it is a Charlie erb sideplate gun then its not at all uncommon as he engraved many of them on his little machine and often made all numbers on the gun match in the process. You wont find a real dwm gun so engraved unless its a navy gun, which this one clearly is not.

I agree, does not look exactly correct and the change over was in 1917 not 1918. I am guessing it was faked.

I might have a LMG cover that is too. Usually if you look at the font, it does not match up to the original German font 100%.

I could have written that a little better, the intent was that they did not mark them in 1918.
