Springfield Armory has a great scope mount. Not cheap, but it is a fine piece of hardware. The aluminum version is $123, the steel version is over twice that. The aluminum version works fine.

Springfield's is not pic rail and are ordinary, definitely use a steel mount, try ARMS or SADLAK or SEI.

I've been using the aluminum one for almost twenty years without a change in zero. Leupold mid height rings. Once mounted it's never been removed. Doing it over I would probably spring for a trick steel one but... If it aint broke. :D RR

The reason I asked Is that I'm sending this one to a place where it's going to be put to use.

Hi RR,
Do your rings lean over a little on that base?, every SA mount I've had is slightly to large meaning the flat underside of the ring doesn't sit parallel to the top of the mount base, including the Mk4, PRW and QRW rings from Leupold and all others. I'm a master distributor for SA and refuse to use them.

Geesh! forgot all about that. When I got it I wasn't happy with mount up either. Had to file fit so mounts sat flat. Then painted it to cover my anodizing removal. :( Since Salts rifle is going to see more than range use like mine, IMO. he should go for a nice piece like the ARMS or other steel mount. RR
