I am not sure who is crazier the seller for posting it or the buyer for paying that price

Re: Now this takes balls
I think that the seller had nothing to do with it. I think that it had a starting bid of $15.00. Why, looking at the list of bids and the different bidders that were bidding and how they bid. 36 bids.
The bidder that lost was only what $2.50 lower.
With that many bidders bidding that high.... What did I miss seeing??? Someone??

It'd be something if it was a couple ATF agents unknowingly bidding against each other to get the receiver and make the bust. Publicity for that would certainly make the news.

Actually it would be an improvement, remember on the eve of the 2008 financial crash the SEC investigators who filled numerous man-size external harddrives with porn, instead of "regulating" the industry, or at least attempting to
Thing is, nothing illegal yet, as you all know-if the seller demands an FFL from the buyer or if the buyer is within the same state, it is legal, however for a power-seller to risk being banned from the big E and have their ppal account frozen, that is a huge risk.
42rocker, I agree too, this is a receiver you could have bought at Century for peanuts not that long ago, or maybe $25-$75 on GB..........very strange

Re: Now this takes balls
Like it was stated it is a "receiver". No statement about FFL or FTF. Interesting what evilbay allows and does not allow.
Again with that many bidders after it, more that 2 agents I think. What was it that we missed or did several folks need a small ring action than bad??
What did we miss?? I know that the re-election caused a lot of prices to head up butttt.

for the most part yes they have software that looks for prohibitied items but it still takes someone looking
at the auctions to decide it's prohibited.... some slip through so they also depend of self policing.... other ebayer's reporting an item so it gets trashed.... some sellers will do it to other sellers if they see an item in compitition even if it isn't prohibited.... Once I had a FIVE SHOT Remington Lee magizine auction closed because they decided it was a "Hi-capacity" mag! it was at 100.00 when they closed it on an 1880's antique they have no gun people who know what they are looking at so things get screwed up. I don't do auctions on evilbay any more I had enough B.S.
