MG34 dummy - trigger grouping.

Post by pitfighter »

Hi there,

Quick question, to the MG34 experts out there.

I picked up this MG34 dummy, original parts on an aluminum receiver.
I am planning on bringing this back from the dead, and making a restoration project of it.
The receiver is badly scratched and the aluminum barrel lug has bent and warped so the barrel drops off if you hold it wrong - a nice new dummy receiver should fix that.

I have been inspecting the pistol grip/trigger housing.

It has some issues, it does not have the same two part trigger or trigger markings as the German WW2 examples I have seen, there are no waffen marks on it or the pistol grip, either.

Is this a cast dummy pistol-grip, or just a post war Yugo type thing?

Am I going to have to buy a new trigger grouping/pistol grip as I make this more authentic?

Seems that I am looking for just the trigger itself and internals then, the rest looks OK.

Interesting that someone went to the expense of creating fake triggers with return springs etc.,

Supposedly this stuff came from IMA at least ten years ago, according to the son of the last owner.

The barrel looks brand new (if roughly finished) as does the 1945 DOT barrel housing/ventilated system.
All parts (including stock parts) in the not-matching 8000 serial range, so late war, I think.
Now I have some free-time the books are coming out, lol.
Thankfully the fellow with the welding torch that butchered the MG13 did not touch this.
