MG34 Ejector plates

Before new ejector plates started being available from Europe, we used to rebuild worn plates buy welding up the damaged areas and regrinding the cam. The welding rod used was much tougher than the original plate and I could easily get a shooting season (about 20,000 rounds) on the rebuilt plate with very little wear. I even had a friend of mine chrome the cams of a few plates and the results were even better. I have pictured the two rebuilt plates with approximately the same amount of rounds and you can see the chromed plate clearly out lasted the re welded one. JH

I mostly shoot original German sS in my 34's. I scrap brass once (sometimes twice) a year and the highest weight I ever salvaged was 1344 pounds. About 55,000 + cases. Most was 8mm. Ammo is getting more and more difficult to find but I have enough German to keep my 34's running for some time to come. As they say;" when ammo cheap, stack it deep". Those days maybe long gone, but who knows. JH

wow, thats a lot of wartime ammo. its really to bad that 8mm hasnt survived to be a modern service round like the 7.62x54r (as in still mass produced for machine guns).

Are there any ejector plates and screws which one can buy? I'm looking for at least one, even a re-built one.

I have brand new ejector plates and unlocking cams for sale. 125,- $ for the unlocking cams and 300,- for a set of unlocking cams. These are German WW2 parts that have never been installed on a gun. I can probably find you screws that will work also.

Go to the Gun Broker site and search for seller "yakooza". Even if he does not have them listed, he generally has them in stock. They are German NOS. He is in NJ. JH
