mg34 FA C & R $18.9k good deal?
Just got a call from dealer whose brokering a working, non matching #, C & R, full auto MG34 selling for $18.9k. I've never seen one that low $ and wonder if I should go for it? Dealer is reputable and I saw no issues with gun on pics sent. Any advise I would appreciate. Thanks.

Re: mg34 FA C & R $18.9k good deal?
for an actual C&R I would say that is a great deal, even if its non matching. I picked up mine as just a receiver at an estate sale, after the stamp my price was 18.5k so 18.9k for a complete C&R gun is pretty good.
what about the functionality? does the weapon work or does it need work? one thing I've learned about these guns is that they can be quite finicky. Another thing to consider before dropping the near 20k on this is that surplus 8mm is all but dead from what I can tell, and while the mg34 can be converted to .308 the barrels are very expensive ($500 each).
just my $0.02, if you don't mind buying brand new ammo at premium prices or if you're lucky enough to have good 8mm surplus stashed away already (Romanian is the way to go with this gun) then jump on it. either way an MG34 looks outstanding in ANY collection.

Just talked w dealer and he said functions good. Gun is local to his area and used in yearly Oklahoma MG shoot. Tough call but I'll sleep on it and decide in morning. Here's link to pics if anyone else has advice , http://atfmg.smugmug.com/Other/DSBK/213 ... 24_VPCQjLX .

GREAT DEAL! However, the MG-34's can have problems. Be prepared to have a few bolts and barrels to try in different combinations until you find one that is reliable. The guns are old and the MG-34 will jam with worn parts or parts that simply have tolerances such that they don't work well with other parts. If you get it running well, then you REALLY have something! Ask the current owner questions as to the frequency of jamming and what ammo he uses. If jams are infrequent, then you have a winner. If not, you can get it running better, but you will want to try a lot of bolts and barrels to get the right combo.

If its the mg34 on the web-link I would say BUY IT!!
The barreljacket is an early 4-hole, it has 4 venting holes between the muzzle and the bipod attachment, not to many of those around.

I passed on the MG34 for $18.9k. Combination of possible reliability issues and just buying a FA 1919 one week ago changed my mind. Thanks for everyone's advice. Here's the dealers link if anyone's interested.

I saw this ad in subguns. Interesting that his web site does not show the MG34 for sale.
