Call Jerry at military gun supply

http://militarygunsupply.com/

Tell him 42rocker sent you. Of course they are mg15 but can be used for your mg34 be changing the top. Removing a screw or two, ask Jerry how to do it.

More like Double Trouble.

Speaking of which...Does anyone remember the board game "Trouble"? It featured the "Pop-o-matic" bubble.

The last genuine MG34 doppel trommel I heard of selling went for $6,000.

The MG15 drums don't have the correct spring tension, so getting them to work is always a long, drawn out project.

Buttttt they look good and they are so coollllll. I'll just have to wait till I get the $6,000 so I can have the right one. For now it will just have to look good and maybe just maybe I'll get it to work just right, need to finish the mg34 first.....

And a Ferrari body on a Volkswagen chassis is still a Volkswagen.

Some people want the real thing, some just want the look.

At $6,000 I might have to go for the look and then shooting time use a belt..... LOL, but the difference could well pay for the ammo. Still going to have the cool look....

John Thanks for the warning about it... But I believe that I showed you the one that I bought at the creek, work well?????? Still looks good.

i guess if you want to shoot the mg15s are the way to go and if you want to invest the real deal is the way to go. still a lot of money, i/ve only seen a few pics of the real mg34 drums and they do not look like they are in shootable condition. i guess 6k for one that works was worth it to somebody. - matt

DDOK43, don't be afraid of the dt-15 drum;....> One page back here, Bergflak has a url to his site where he explains the difference between the 15 & 34 Trommels.
........Today I took my MG-34, AA tripod, & dt-15 drum to the range......When I was fooling with this drum last year, the spring tension was quite stout...> So about 6 months ago I loaded it with 70 rounds, and let it sit all this time.
........The darn thing fed perfectly, & I refilled it twice more, and it functioned quite well.
......We have to imagine, with these drums in front line service, how long did they sit full of ammo, there-by compressing the springs.....I would guess, the dt-34 trommels were made with the ability to increase spring tension just for that reason; ammo sits in the drum for long, depressing the spring, and eventually increasing the spring tension was ideal.......>But for what we do as collectors who shoot occasionally it's not necessary.
...It was fun to shoot off the AA tripod with the trommel & spider sight installed. Try it............bobh

That was an interesting post. Maybe I should start loading the one I got, maybe not the springs will be totally shot by the time that I'm finished building the mg34....LOL....

Springs in magazines;...reminds me of how we handled Grease gun magazines stored with ammo on our tanks in the Cavalry Troop I was a M-48a3 gunner in Viet Nam. (A Trp.1/1 Cav. 68-69)
....We placed two mag springs in one magazine to insure they would work when needed. Two springs were enough to push the 45 cal ammo up into the receiver. Of course two springs filled the space in the mag body of about 5 rounds, and lessoned the number of rounds each magazine held.
.......I understand that our troops of today on our two war fronts, remove the ammo from their M-4/16 mags regularly to allow the mag springs ro 'rest'.
......I am sure the crew-men of the german Pz-I & II tanks in early WWII stored ammo in the trommels for long periods of time, with minimal weakening of the coil springs. That spring is a tough sob, and to me, the MG-34 actually fires faster using the trommel !

The DT15 drums can either be used with fewer cartridges, or can have the spring tension reduced slightly.

Great Video;......and it is a great sensation to shoot the 34 with the trommel.
........Check out Bergflak's site with the trommel story. I have a dt-15 that the spring tension can not be adjusted.
..I have been in it, and have tried.....It works just like the one in the video, as is....bh
