I made regular contact and a short time back Mikesal droped off two MG42/M53 builds.
One was a complete display gun which allowed me to see the weapon totally built.
I took many pic's, from every angle to male sure I had a good frame of reference.
I returned the completed weapon that Sunday.
The second Kit.
Not a complete kit, I am using it to make molds for resin castings.
I should be done with it by the end of the month...(Mikesal if you read this, you can plan to retrieve the kit at your convienience.)
Many many thanks to Mike.
I am also working on making some field gear for Mike, mold making for those start in the mourning.
To make molds of some of the parts, I really need to strip them, and can't do that with mikes kit.
I still need parts for mold making, if some of you have seconds (unuseable parts, or poor grade) Im interested in buying. (exterior parts only, no internal parts needed.)
If someone is interested in buying BRP reciever halves front or rear, Ill pay $100.00 to rent them for a few days.
I have bought fresh mold making silicone and only wish to make molds of the blanks.
Blanks are much easier to use for mold making.
Once I am done with mold making, I will be able to produce resin display recievers, Butt stocks, and pistol grips.
Also looking into a screw press outfit, to make some metal parts for display guns..(light weight non-gun metal)
If anyone has trust issues, simply ask Mikesal, he now knows exactly where I live, and has already loaned some parts.
I am posting a few pics taken of Mike's MG42/m53.
First pic is My youngest son and grandson working as a firing crew....awwww just to cute HUH?
Thanks Mikesal MG42 project now under way.
Re: Thanks Mikesal MG42 project now under way.
Looks like some upcoming Soldaten to me!
I still have that one front shroud that could be cut in half it would help, but I don't have a back half that i'd want to cut. The new stampings would be best for that.

Re: Thanks Mikesal MG42 project now under way.
Mike..Your offer is very generous.
How about this, sell me the one your suggesting cutting.
I would need to strip it completely, cut and drill all rivets, remove the barrel door, then cut the top from the bottom.
Whatever price you think is fair, I would feel much better about it if the pice was mine.
I am working with a new (new to me anyway) tin cured rubber. 10 to 1 mixture.
I cast the first objects last night, cure time for the mold is 24 hours.
In about 8 hours I can demold one part, and add the next layers for the others.
Cant wait to see how this new rubber performs.
When it comes time for a rear section, if I do not have access to stampings by that time I may just model the part from wax.
Im going to make some impressions of Mikesal's rear reciever, between that, and blueprints i should be able to come up with a fairly accurate mode.
