Thanks Black,

Can I expect the peening of the bushing slots to continue until the bearing bottoms out on the booster or will it continue until the bushing itself is destroyed? I figured all of the added mass behind the resetting of everything was putting a LOT of force on those 4 little tabs (i.e. design flaw) but I'm unsure how to stop it.

Seems like a new bushing and bearing should have been designed with deeper slots and beefier tabs to avoid this issue. Oh well.

I'll see what WLA says about this tomorrow and report back so others that might have this problem will know.

i've been thinking about your problem, it's like doctor telling you what's wrong with you over the phone--is your bushing plumb? ???????????????

I am thinking there were two differant length bushings that fit on the barrel-I may be wrong,I have seen several with differant external profiles.I looked through here a long time last night and couldn't find anything.Maybe John Baum or fab would know.
Does the barrel go in easy? Could the bearing be out of time just enough for it to hit the edges? Just some ideas.Did you say it was ok with parts from another kit?
I would really see what wiselite says-call them or pm Richard Hamer here,sledge303 or the wiselite account. It would be interesting to hear what they come up with. ---bil

the barrel bushings I've seen are different in external length only, internally and index tab placement were the same.

the indexing tabs should never bottom out on the barrel bearing. the tabs are there to guide the front of the barrel not stop its forward momentum. There is a "Collar" riveted on the bottom of the reciever back by the barrel door that stops the barrels forward movement. Either your missing yours, It was installed to far forward, or your bearing was welded into the reciever to far back.

Its amazing anything works right around here with a bunch of
over-age juvenile delinquents running the place.

The owner at Wise Lite (Tony) spoke to this gent today.
I had already made sure Tony was up to speed with the info presented here.
We have assisted him before with this gun and are always ready to provide service to our customers.

By the way, let me say that I am once again impressed with how the members here are willing to pool their knowledge/expertise to help a fellow shooter.

Ah, Richard beat me to an update but I'll add another.

Yes, I did speak with Tony at WLA today and he offered some great advice to get this running 100%. After acting on his suggestions, I took her to my range out the back door.

I fired a belt of 200 rounds with only 6 stoppages. Four of them were rounds that were seated in links coupling belts together so I wrote those off as overly tight. The other 2 were somewhat of an anomaly as I'm not sure what happened . . . they just didn't clear the belt. Tony suggested that I tweak my top cover over to the left more to aid in belt feed and advance. It worked great. I simply bent the rear tab of the top cover to hold it over but may tig a spacer there later. Anyway, this mod seems to work. I might need to bend just a tad more for 100% feeding but I'll wait until I run another 200 rounds through before I do because she’s darned close to 100% now.

The bearing seems to be settling in the bushing. I had a little more peening of the tabs but not as drastic as before. The barrel stop is present in the receiver and looks like it’s making good contact with the stop collar. I'll keep an eye on it but I suspect this is just "parts shaking hands". The barrel seats with just a slap on the barrel door latch now which is a lot better than when I first got it. Again, I suspect/hope that parts are simply settling in.

Ejection seems a little more powerful than necessary yet but not terrible. I think I'm to the point where I can experiment with a larger booster size to see if I can get this thing tuned to where it's ejecting while not beating up the gun. It may be OK now as hammer bounce seems to have gone away and the ramp is remaining on the rear of the bolt extension.

As everyone knows, I was pretty frustrated with this thing thinking that it'd sure look good wrapped around a tree. We're past that now as she looks like she's going to be a shooter. I'd like to thank everyone here for their help! Lots of good ideas of things that I didn't think to look at/for.

WLA has been a lot of help too. I've bothered Tony and Angela enough that they probably play rock/paper/scissors to see who takes the call. Even if so they've always been very helpful and took my calls immediately. With all of their time that I used, I probably delayed someone else's firearm (if so, I apologize). Nevertheless, thank you WLA for some great customer service!

Regarding your .308 question, mine is running .308 blanks just fine with only a barrel change and BFA.

Keep an eye on the length of the spring in the bolt head. As it gets shorter, your bursts may get longer...

BTW the Pakistani .308 blanks that Century is currently selling are jamming in my .308 barrels. Seems to be some dimensional problem with the round that I have not tracked down yet. German and Belgian blanks feed fine.
