I dont think the belt is going to cure my issues.I opened up my others so much that the rounds slide in and out like glass.I will be going threw the weapon this weekend inspecting everything.

Re: New M53 is giving me so many problems
how easily does the barrel move once its installed? Did you lube the barrel bearing?
It should be very smooth with just spring resistance. Look for any binding, I'm guessing your recuperator isn't able to push the barrel all the way forward. Your gonna fix this yourself or send it back? where abouts are you located maybe we have a member near by that can take a second look.

I live in Pelham NH.
Is the barrel suposed to move in and out?
I have to use a Mallet to get barrel back in past the recuperator.

The barrel must move in and out to function. Remove the bolt, take off the recoil booster & nozzle (LINK TO PART #84) put the barrel bearing down on the floor, (barrel still in gun) and push down until it bottoms out. The motion should be smooth with only spring resistance. When you stop pushing down the recuperator must push the barrel back out easily.
Now, reinsert the bolt only and repeat the test. The barrel must move far enough back to unlock the bolt. Push down & pull back on the bolts feed-stud to see if its free from the barrel.
You'll need to bevel the plunger on the recuperator to get the barrel to fit like it should. I'm sorry to tell you this as you'll need to remove the recuperator to do it. Thats a real PITA on a SA42.
let me know what you find, if alls good and smooth we'll check your ejection next.

Ok,The Gun past this test.barell moves in smooth and unlocks bolt.returns barrel forward.I can push bushing in by hand with a little force with the same results.drooling idiot wrote:NH is too far for me but lets see if anybody else is nearby.MIKEMC wrote:I live in Pelham NH.

Bolt slides in rails very smooth.I do notice things can get tight and even stuck when charging rod is inserted.I looked for burrs but dont realy know what I am looking for?Is it possible to have bolt in gun upside down?I could of remembered seeing the ejector spring in the up position in the bolt last time at range? Not sure of this but I noticed that the head of the bolt can be inserted both ways.
Re: New M53 is giving me so many problems
Ok guys,Went to the range today with M53.I was getting the same problems.fire one,two or up to 4 then stop.Eject round and the primmer would be hit but no go.
I brought some new ammo that was steel but laquared finish.after removing them from the stripper clips i inserted them into my belts.WELL HOLY (Try a different word.)! WAS ABLE TO SHOOT THE BELT.FILLED ANOTHER 50RDS AND AGAIN,WAS ABLE TO SHOOT ALL 50 AGAIN.
WENT BACK TO THE OTHER BELTS WITH THE OLDER BRASS CASED ROUNDS AND STARTED TO HAVE PROBLEMS AGAIN.
I THINK MINE IS CURRED.IT HAS BEEN THE OLD 50YEAR PLUS AMMO I WAS TRYING TO USE.
Question?could i increase spring pressure to get those older rounds to fire? pics will follow.

Re: New M53 is giving me so many problems
Great news. Glad to hear it is running. The new ammo you bought sounds like Romanian 8mm. That is all I have put through mine and it worked perfect with the small trigger problem. The brass ammo is probably Yugo and I would personally avoid it.
I am sure if you used a weaker firing pin spring and stronger hammer spring it might work better, but why mess with it. Unless you already bought to s of it, just start buying Romanian. Use the left over yugo in a k98.
Again congrats on getting it working. It is hard not to love these things.

What kind of ammo is not working. You should only be using German,Yugo, or Romanian in there.
Re: New M53 is giving me so many problems
If it's running good now with the Romy 8mm I wouldn't mess with it. I'd stock up on the romy while it's still available though. That's all I run in my WLA M53.
Glad to hear you have it working good now.

Re: New M53 is giving me so many problems
yes,the new ammo is the Romanian. The old stuff is 1950 Yugo i think. It has a star on the base, date.Could be Korean?
The brass ones that did fire seem to have a deeper primmer strike than the ones that did not.If i installed a light hit round back in the breech it would fire. The Romanian stuff fired everytime no matter what the strike was.
