What to do with a rare parts kit?

Post by mg42rip »

Hello to all,
I may be able to get ahold of a rare mg42 parts kit. The question is should I make it into a dummy gun a semi auto or a post sample machine gun?

I might be alone on this but I think you should make it into an unregistered full auto machine gun.

I'm kidding, of course.

Ahhh if your Licensed to do a dealers sample why the heck would you be asking about a dummy gun????????????????

The reason I'm asking about a dummy is because I have a transferable gun that I shoot now and several other parts kits that I could make into a post sample.

43 dated CRA gun with matching #'s on feed tray, barrel, site and slab sided cocking handle and this is not a reworked yugo gun.

oh yea every part including the bakelite stock has wa11 stamped on it. The cocking handle has 3 of them on it.
There are about 25 total on all the parts together.

Honestly, IMHO, a dummy gun for such a parts kit would be a total waste. If you are going to take the time to re-weld her, at least give her a semi-receiver. Then as cash/time permits, you can sort out the semi-internals (grip stick and bolt).

Personally, sure full auto is great if it was registered before May ‘86, post samples are neat as well but can only be possessed by a limited audience, but a semi-auto practically guarantees that it will always find itself a home. If you move around a lot you may end up in one of the 10 states that do not allow Class III weapons, your semi-receiver would be allowed in most of those states.

Plus semi is not all that bad, you burn less ammo :D God knows 8mm is not as cheap as it use to be

I would agree with Prussia a semi-auto is more than likly your best bet, unless you plan on keeping it yourself.
I wouldn't waste a kit like that on a dummy gun,not when you can make something that goes BANG! :D

Blackreich,

Too late to say it was a joke...I just told some local Amish about using the 42 as a plow...they hitched up the horses and are on their way to pick it up!

The farm is counting on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm working on the pics. Actually I'm only about 5 miles from the amish comunity, I could probably get a whole pickup truck full of pies for this plow !!!!!!
