I hope I'm on the right page for this. I just want to give new members an observation from a beginner trying to get my 34 up & running. When I 1st. started I had a ton of questions on a rebuild project. It's been about 10 months now but w/ obsticles of life I'm really behind. Anyway-I have spent many months looking @ every pic I can and reading every article I come accross to learn. What I have learned is this. This is not a project for someone who
1] wants to save money by doing it yourself--if you have to buy the welder,argon/argon bottle, maybe a helmet, electrodes.filler wire, dremel or equivilent, files maybe some drills,if you want maybe a jig and maybe some misc. items ,argon gauge ,vise or 2
2] save time because if you are not a master welder or you do not have gallons & gallons of patience it won't work
3]Then you might need some mill work done--not cheap. If you can even find someone willing to do it. hint--you may have to wait a while
4] so far I have 4 tanks of argon @$20.00per
5]you need prints maybe-hint--I have several sets and still cannot match dim. on some parts---there's another cost.
6] this is not everything but the moral of this is --------if you can swing it contact pirate and at least get an estimate. That way it will be professionally done and you will have it a hell of alot quicker.
There it is Points to ponder, mull over and consider

Re: Receiver rebuild
Benefits of being in highschool . I have a master welder teacher, a complete shop of absolutely everything i need, and all the help + advice i could ask for . Now all i need is the 34 kit ...
Good post though, people getting into these projects thinking they can do it all with their dremel tool are in "lala-land". Either you are completely prepared with proper tools and necessary skills, or you send it to Pirate who is !

Yes,as frustrating as the 42/53 builds can get, they are totaly differant than a 34 .This is one receiver that is not forgiving. You really have to plan and take your time. That said,it can be done. The advise about checking with Pirate first is very good-it may be the best way out.Although I think we should say 'Projectguns' as it is no longer a one man band! ---bil

Hi guys...Happy holidays to you all! I'm Jorge, Pirate's partner. I haven't been on line too much lately, but I'll do better. I can't tell you guys what a pleasure it is to be working with Pirate. We took an Idea we had n=been talking about for years and actually made it happen...Building guns for a living.
Thankfully we hve had alot of work and barring any Obaminations, we hope to build alot of cool stuff for you all and for us " Posties!!"
Anyways, Happy Holidays to all, and a good New Year.
BTW This was the first site I ever visited when I was getting back into shooting!! It's excellent
