if its the mg3 drum it will not fit. You will have to change out the feed pawl and tray. I believe its for .308 anyway.
Re: 50 rd. Drum and Yugo M-53
The steel 8mm drum will work but the black plastic MG3 drums are for .308 and use a special feedtray.

Your WLA M53 should be 8mm so the only drum that will work is as Der Alder said, the "STEEL" green or black ones, nothing plastic.

yup yup.....im hearing horror stories of folks trying to get those 50 rounders to fit on the wla m53's as it is. So it might be easier said than done.

Mine actually fit right on no problem. I tried the .308 black HK and 120 round box on my .308 feed tray and that setup fit on just fine to.

Re: 50 rd. Drum and Yugo M-53
the set-up i purchased from robertrtg works beautifully... I bought the .308 top cover-feed tray(mg3 feed pawl) and it works great. I bought a green drum for my 53 and it bites me and growls when i try to attach it....

Re: 50 rd. Drum and Yugo M-53
I am curious will the complete mg3 topcover that robertrtg sells work with the 8mm and the 308.?

Re: 50 rd. Drum and Yugo M-53
Well if you buy the MG3 top cover and plan to use it assembled as it comes it is only .308 no 8mm. Also for some reason if you wanted to attach a 8mm drum to the MG3 top cover no it will not work it is setup with a lever/handle for the .308 drum and box.

oh ok. so if want to do 8mm and the mg3 drums will need 2 diffrent top covers, and feed plates.

Yes kind of they are two different things the MG3 is .308 so you would need to convert your gun to .308(look in the stickies) you need a few different parts. Also the 8mm rounds will not fit into .308 boxes and drums properly.

Re: 50 rd. Drum and Yugo M-53
To Those that have a .308 top cover are they marked are there any markings on them & will 8mm guts fit into them?
Re: 50 rd. Drum and Yugo M-53
Rocco,
My MG-2 top cover is marked 12-121-2211 inside and is running "cof" war time guts excepting the 7.62x51 connector link, marked 12-121-2223. Hope this helps.
