Received My Repro Lafette Carry Straps

Post by CRUSADER »

Yeee-ha! Man, I could not be happier with these! They look great and they are solid.

When I got them, they were a little stiff, so I just hit them with some Mink Oil & a heat gun. Worked great. I'll keep treating them with it.

I realize the snap hooks are not exactly correct, but they are fine by me 8)

They were much cheaper than originals, but for the life of me I cannot recall what I paid! :?

I've been picking up all sorts of MG42 stuff during the past few months and all of the purchases have kinda blended together

If anyone want's to know where I got them, I do have the contact info. I'll post the info up here if the Admin & Mods say it's 'OK' - otherwise, if someone out there in the ether just can't wait, PM me & I'll give you the info.

Nice! I like those.

There's never been a problem with posting sources -- in fact, it's highly suggested, as it's a service to the rest of us.

So, please do post your source for these. And a price ?????????

OK, I dug through my old emails and I actually found the price - $130! Shipped!

One thing I forgot to mention...Frank (the maker) dyed/painted my straps. In the photos you can see that they are brown on one side. If you would prefer a completely 'natural' finish, and do not want them dyed, or if you want them dyed a certain color, be sure to mention that to him!

I am so impressed with his work that I am going to send him a bunch of other leather gear to repair. He is also spinning up right now to do a run of WWII German MG Tool Pouches - perfect timing!

He can do WWII MG42 Split Slings as well, but since he does not have the hardware, you need to supply it to him. I am scrambling to find MG42 Sling hardware someplace! Anybody out there have anything? :D I'll be your buddy 4-evah!! hahaha!

Leather work look great. However, I wonder why he doesn't blue the hardware?
