Bent barrel jacket
Bent barrel jacket
Hi guys.. Can anyone could help me with information on how to bend the barrel jacket straight.
Re: Bent barrel jacket
In your case-get either a yugo kit or look in the FS section, there are 4 for sale as a bunch.Cut off the bent mess, use a new jacket and your frontmost piece.Yours may be fixable, but it would take a lot of work and end up not being cost effective.May I ask-was it like this when you got it? If not, what happened??!! ---bil

Bill , believe it or not, I purchased it that way. I was thinking it would not be hard to bend it back. I was wrong. So I thinking someone on this site might have a better way.

How is the rear section? If it isn't bent, the method I mentioned would work and be as cheap or cheaper than fixing yours.Save the bent part as 'found art'. ---bil

Looks like what you have there is a "GI fire" demil. We would do that in the desert, makes all kinds of interesting shapes out of guns.

+1 to what bil said.

Yeah man. Carefully cut off from the front sight base forward and weld it onto a Yugo Sarac jacket or orig. MG42 jacket.
I think that even the straightening fixture sold by RobertRTG and an oxy/acet torch couldn't fix this one.
