What welder works best for receiver welding.

Tig or mig ? I am asking because I can borrow a mig with argon bottle to use
but If the tig works better I will get one of my own.

I second that about loving it. If I had known what I know now I would have gotten TIG first, before my MIG, gas or stick. They all have their advantages but TIG by design will give the best welds. The negative is that it is slow compared to the others. The Harbor Freight TIG is a DC unit and will not do aluminum, you need AC for that. It will do steel without a problem. Check on sales at HF and you should find it for around $200. Read up on how to use the Harbor Freight TIG, copper strike plate etc.

I use a small lincoln weld pack 100 mig. It worked well for this project. Just dont use fluxcore wire. You get cleaner welds with argon co2.

I use a gasless HF MIG, and let me tell you, my $hit is UGLY! I wish I had access to better, but its all Ive got. IM pretty sure that when this project is complete Im gonna get an award for 'nastiest welds'. Go for a TIG, avoid the mistakes I have made!

I have a lincoln precision tig 185 with a pulse option which eliminates any possibility of warpage. Tig is the only way!!

The HF Tig- Is it 110V or 220V? At that price I'm thinking its 110v.

Blk:

The ad says 220v input. I just ordered one yesterday...the "inside track" catalog has them for $199 :D
