I wasn't going to jump in on this but , oh, what the hell. I bought an 80% RPK receiver from Coldsteel. It was delivered at the stated delivery time of 4 weeks. The holes weren't center punched as requested but what the hell. I'm a big boy and can center punch my own holes.
As for the receiver itself, it was of very good quality. Very little fitting had to be done to install the trunnion. As far as the dimples are concerned, well they could maybe possibly be improved. But I liked the fact that the magwell depression was formed. That saved me some work. Bear in mind that this is a 0.064 receiver and not the standard 0.040 AK type so the metal isn't as easy to push around as the thinner ones. My buddy has an 80% receiver from another vendor has neither the dimples nor the magwell depression formed. And it was a more expensive receiver. The Coldsteel receiver made up into a damn nice Romy RPK that is a blast to shoot.
However, I will suggest that you modify your lower rails or buy them from someone else. I had to buy a set from Scott Gulledge at DPH. I felt that the Coldsteel ones were unsuitable. But they made good test pieces for my spot welder.
Would I buy a receiver from Coldsteel again. Yes I would. I'm anxious to see what his MG42 receiver looks like when they are delivered. My hat's off to him for expending the effort to provide a receiver for all of the guys that would like to build the beast but don't have $800-1000+ for a real MG42 cut up receiver.
I remember reading posts by guys wishing that they could buy a receiver from BRP. But BRP left them twisting in the wind. So now Coldsteel and WLA have stepped up to the plate with their offerings. Now ain't that just a wonderful thing. More SA42's being resurrected and singing their wonderful song on ranges throughout the USA. :rave:

I've got the CS receiver on order.
I will post a report when I get it.

btw, I've built superlative AK's on the CS blanks.
RPK (yugo), M-90, MD-63, M-70's, Tantal, Polish UF.
This is a dedicated vendor who has earned my trust.
That he would introduce the 42 blank is inspiring,
I can't wait to go to work.

O.K. the Cold Steel receiver has arrived & after looking it over my opinion is its Quite buildable a little rough spot here or there but nothing major & this will not be noticable after blasting in the cabinet. Little Rhodey examined it and agrees worth the money we will be keeping you guy's posted as to or build we are currently working on some other projects right now and this one will probably be started when the other receiver we ordered arrives as two versions are better than one to learn off of Plus the other receiver is mine the one that arrived is Britcops & we like to build together. P.S. we also received a couple of the Weaponeer/Wiselite Gripsticks and they look excellent just an FYI. :D
