Any other 42 sites out there?

Post by ScottD »

Are there any other sites out there dedicated to rebuilding and collecting the MG42? I love this site, but it just seems that there should be more out there in the world of the internet about building a semi?

Im sorry if I sound blasphemous (sp?) Im just trying to gather all the info I can. This is still the number one site!

Blasphemy. Stone him! Boil him in oil! Bury him up to his neck, pour honey on his head, and let the fire ants strip the flesh from his skull! Stake him out in the Mojave desert and let the sun fry his brains and blacken his skin!
On a lighter note, however. I would think that there maybe one out there. Do a search. There are tidbits on various sites, but nothing that comes close to the volume of information that is available here. That being said when you can buy a Ferrari, why would you want a Ford Falcon. You might try a Russian site. I have one bookmarked that has loads of pics and commentery on the Stg.44. Chitaish pa-russki? Yesli nyet, tagda tee screwed. Don't know the Russian for for "screwed". Have to ask my wife.
Good luck in your search. Heretic.

Read in russian ? If not, then you Vzso prrrapalla (meaning : INto the hole= screwed)

Scott.... sorry to hijack. This does seen to be the only 42 site at the moment( in an understandable
language) focused on building the semi.

Everything you need is here. I have searched high and low. This is the best German gun site around.

The thing I find amazing is the evolution of the site-look back at the early posts-this was basically a bunch of guys with the same interest, and not a lot of info. Most of what we have here has been found out the hard way, lots of trial and error, sharing of what works and what doesn't ,and a willingness to help others to get their project going. This is not the sort of site you could build overnight, the site really is its members.I visited for a long time before I joined, and wish I had done so earlier.I don't know how it could be any better unless someone actually came to your house and did the work for you.[you don't,do you?]It would be nice to have several sources for info, but it all seems to end up here anyway. Thanks to all the guys that put so much into it. ---bil

I can't imagine needing another source for building a semi 42. I know lots of us have been successful in completeing one with the information located on this site. If there is something in particular you are looking for, ask man. We can point you in the right direction.

I got on board the 1919 site about 2 years ago as it reached its maturity. I became one of the regular members there during my build, and went to the sight 2-3 times a day for help. This site has the same potential, Id just love to see a step by step building tutorial like 1919a4.com has. The sticky's here are great, but for a new guy like myself who is learning the basics of building the semi 42, it takes a lot of research and patience. And I hevnt even started the project yet, Im still gathering parts.... Ok, I gotta go, there is somebody at my door.

Huh, men in black suits? Damn you tomcatshaas, how did you find me?!!

My virus software warned me of the same thing. It hasn't done this in the past.

Me too! Glad I have two antivirus programs that picked it up and deleted it before I even knew it was there.

What ever happened to the "old" MG-42 Board that had information on all of the models "AND" information w/photos on the conversion to 5.56mmNATO/.223 Remington (?)

It also had a lot of good photos both WWII and current.

That web-page use to be up a few years ago.

Regards, RichardS in MI.

I am not very computer oriented but this is what I found when I checked the logs of the two antivirus programs.
1 File: Incoming(1).htm
Where found: Documents and Settings, temporary Internet files
Potential threat: Exploit:HTML/ADO Stream

2. downloader, winzip file documents and Settings Application Data, count.jar-3alf58d4-24a15fdf.zip.
I don't know if this will help but it is all I can tell you. When I tied to go to the link in that message my computer started to go then a message came up from the two programs saying a virus was found. One program automativcally quarantined it the other I think deletd it. Hope this helps.
