MG 34 barrel Marked S

Post by oprod »

Ive wound up with a mg34 barrel marked S on it. It does not appear to have the s type locking area. Is this a must have item for anyone? Rifleing is strong with no rust spots in the barrel. Id sell it if its worth more then a standard barrel.

I beleve that the "S" is equal to the amount of wear/bore-diameter when the barrel was "stamped".....there are other markings for more wear.
If I remember correctly, this is how many MG08 and MG08/15 Barrel-Assemblies were stamped.

Someone could post this "marking-information" for us....maybe with a quick "tutorial" on markings such ase "Maker-Code", dates, gauged-diameter for caliber and wear, etc..

Last.....you will also find markings numbered 1, 2, and 3 (on the same serial-numbered barrels).....as these were the numbered spare barrels for the same gun.
