Post by msg1956 »

Hi all

Just wondering if Mr Stout is still offering his MG42 80% receiver welding services? Has anyone had a less than satisfactory transaction with him (ie: bad welding job, or not gettin' 'er done)?

Thanks

Jim

Dude, first off, you are posting your reply in the subject section.....makes it hard to read...

second, I do not know of any other FFL/SOT doing any welding of receivers.

Mr. Stout....Pete.....pdstout did good by me. Excellent work and service!

Pete is currently welding my 42, I have spoke to him at least 15-20 times about my 42 and other (Try a different word.) at great length, all the while he was working full time, coaching football, and working on members receivers. I know if there was a problem, he would address it immediately and professionally without question. There is one malcontent on this board that will never be satisfied, and will always have a problem. Tomcatshaas put it right, Pete is the only individual offering this service. Why don't you call Brian at BRP and ask him if he wouldn't mind rewelding your receiver and than let me know what he says.

And just for argument's sake, what quality is the work when the barrel will not fit in the receiver? You may call me Mr. Malcontent, thank you.

Go with Pete, he won't do you wrong. His turn-around is rather quick too considering what all he does job and coaching.

robertmcw's snide comment about the barrel not fitting the receiver was aimed squarely at my receiver.

After receiving my welded receiver from Pete and noticing the minor issue (I say minor because the caming section holes just needed to be squared off.) I asked for assistance from the members here who gave me instruction on how to fix it. Before I could even try to fix the issue Mr Stout contacted me and asked if I would allow him to make it right. I happily agreed and as we speak Pete is making it right. :) I know I'm beating a dead horse by saying this but Pete is 100% commited to getting the job done right, and he's reliable.

Thanks
Larry

I'm happy with the product I received from Mr Stout! He even filled in a few little bad spots on my receiver at no extra charge. In fact i wish he did MG34 rewelding too......... **hint hint** ;)

Pete's the Man!!

Post by fjruple »

I had a problem with my SA 42 as a result of the previous owner not properly welding the the front cut on my SA42 which made it shoot more left and high then Jane Fonda. Pete even though he did not do the work fixed my SA42 at no charge to me!! I am sure if Pete made a mistake he would do right and solve the problem. The guy is Aces in my book.

PS-- It's been too damn cold to go out and test fire the SA42.

And I will NEVER understand why I rated the 'special' treatment I got, expecially since I paid an extra fee without even being asked.

We will be taking some pictures and posting them, hopefully later today.

Pictures of the 'Quality' Work

I believe these pictures speak for themselves. Mr. Stout refused to repair this, promised a refund and never sent it.

Is the entire front end totally screwed up?It looks like-1-The sights are twisted from center. 2-the whole sight section heads off to the gunners right. 3-possibly the bearing is also installed at an angle.I have no idea of the story behind this, but I agree this is a mess.On most cuts I have seen, the sight area is still intact-the cuts are to the front. How did this get so out of line? I will end here and await the slew of postings.Thank you both-robert and matt- for the pics. ---bil

A Couple More

Post by robertmcw »

Here are some more. The pipe is a piece of 3/4 inch steel pipe I got from Home Depot today. I stuck it in as far as it would go which is only about half way down the barrel jacket before it binds up against the inside of the jacket because the nose piece is so out of line. It should go all the way through the receiver.

I have plenty more, pm me if you need additional pix.

Yeah man... whats with that receiver?

It looks so screwed up that if Mr Stout did that good of a job getting it that straight... I would say he did a damn good job...

Just sticking a pipe out the end proves Nothing... its only touching one point on the gun.

How about telling your side of the story, not just some pictures of a crappy receiver... I mean for all we know you could have sent him a receiver run over by a tank and asked him to do his best... and this would be better then one could hope... You are making the claim, lets hear it all!

Ok, now I see what you are saying in the second picture post.

Here is what I do not get... why is the pipe even more off then the front of the receiver? As you shoot the front looks off to the right. But the pipe is coming out at even more of an angle to the right.... So why is that? Does not make good sense to me.

Please also explain why the receiver is so messed up on the barrel slot side...

Lets stop beating a dead horse. We went through all this some time ago.
