Sarco M53 kits
I received two m53 from sarco on friday. most everything seems to be in the kit, the best i can tell (im new to this gun). covered in cosmoline, parts clean up ok. One bbl looks new the other used but not worn out. But stocks look like they have been draged behind a truck for 10 miles, I hope to find a better looking one or try to restore what I have. Feed trays are worn and shiny. All the parts were just thrown in a bag, including some small pins, nuts and screws. The muzzle end of the shroud is usable once you remove the remainder of the old bushing. Bi-pod is in good shape, booster block is like new.
This is my overview of the kits I received.

I think my stock was probably dragged alonside yours. They'll clean up. I would probably remove the black paint and repair any dents or cracks. Cracks cn be cleaned out and then glued with Gorilla Glue. Add a little clamping pressure on the crack. Gorilla Glue is some of the best wood glue out there. When I made my replacement stock I glued up three pieces of cherry to get the thickness I needed. I used Gorilla Glue. The wood fibers will tear before the glue bond will break. It's almost like welding wood. Wet the area to be glued. The glue will start to foam as it cures. After the glue cures you can shave it off with a chisel or a scraper. Very easy to sand.
Then sand and finish your wood stock. You'd be surprised what may be under that paint.

I just open my MG53 from Sarco and it has a few problems
-1st there is a bullet hold in the front next to the front sight
-2nd the feed tray has a broken tab
-3rd it was poorly packed.
Everything was well used except for the barrel. Of the three kits I ordered, the one from SOG was the best, Centerfire was second and Sarco is in last. I am going to see if I can return it. I dont think I can fix the bullet hold.

How much of the bolt and assembly are needed for a semi build? One of my Sarco kits has the complete bolt and head, but hte other one was taken apart, and many of the parts are missing, such as the firing pin, and the spring that fits into the shaft part. Im also missing one bipod and one of the parts that are in the booster cone. I called SARCo and spoke to someone, but then I called back with the parts I need, and I havent heard back yet.

i wouldn't fix it , just leave it , its part of the history of these guns. how many other guns do you have with bullet holes from enemy fire ?avman wrote:I just open my MG53 from Sarco and it has a few problems

most of the small bolt parts are readily available cheap, getting your bipod & missing pieces can be difficult sometimes , make yourself a pain in their a$$ by calling repeatedly until they agree to send the parts.Fishpaw wrote:How much of the bolt and assembly are needed for a semi build? .............

Its amazing anything works right around here with a bunch of
over-age juvenile delinquents running the place.

As far as the bolt, you need the bolt carrier, bolt head with the locking wedge, ejector, and the ejector spoon. The bolt head should have the extractor alraedy installed. Unless you have FA, you don't need the bolt bounce device. Also, it depends on what type of firing pin you want to use. If a 2 piece you may want to use the firing pin. With a one piece you don't. I made my own front firing pin. I've got to post my improved design. Soon as I retest it I will.
I'm using a 2 piece design with a spring that holds the front firing pin back. The firing pin is shaped like a common penny nail head. The locking wedge is drilled out at the rear with a 5.5mm carbide bit. The front hole is a 4.5mm hole This forms a ledge inside the locking wedge on which the front firing pin spring rests. At the rear of the wedge is a bushing with a 4.5mm hole in it to receive the rear half of the firing pin. I made the bushing from a 9mm Parabellum case. Primer cup was just the right size for a 4.5mm hole. And there is enough meat on the head of the case to turn down to 5.5mm.
I will try to post pictures of it this weekend.
I guess the Sarco kits are catch as catch can. I got all the parts in mine. Yeah, the packing left a lot to be desired. The barrel shroud containing the barrel was thrown in the peanuts and the rest of the parts were in a bag. I lied. The only part I didn't get was the cam piece rivet. I don't need it anyhow.

rocco and myself are looking for the replacment weld in buster adapter, the part that gets torched in these kits. I cant find the correct part on those sites listed above. If any one has one that was cut off in a kit (with some of the shroud attached) this would be acceptable, as we can disect it from the shroud remains and reuse the part.

Wise Lite Arms manufactures a very good replacement part. It welds into the front of the barrel shroud. They also make complete semi-auto trigger groups and can do the bolt mods. All the parts and work are offered through:rocco1911 wrote:Sorry I meant the Replacement threaded Barrel piece to repair the torch cut booster area on my M53. Any body have one they want to sell or is there a place I can get one??

Buy the replacement barrel bushing sleeve from Wiselite. Weaponeer did a group buy at $100 each but that buy is closed. Several of us here bought some, and they came from Wiselite, who announced that they would make them available directly for $125 each plus shipping.

Just joined the forum. So far, I am amazed and impressed by all the information from here. The info was so good, that I decided to jump into my
first SA MG build with the M53. I just placed my order for the M53 kit from Sarco. I have read most if not all the stickys and Pirates build threads. Amazing amount of information, and for a new guy, it really is going to help.
With the parts list and diagram from this forum I will be fully prepared for doing the inventory of the kit when it arrives. Plus, not being a machinist or a welder will mean that I will be looking for the services and mods from the people here. Looking forward to getting started.
So, to summarize what I have read so far, we have three sources for the reciever - 1) reweld the cut parts, 2)buy the $950 4-piece reciever from BRP, or 3) wait for the group buy on weaponeer.com (WLA?). Is this about right?
Thanks in advance.

Rocco-look in the 'wanted' section-a threan from earlier called'mg42 or yugo 53 front section'.I posted some pics of what you need.It shows the wise-lite repair part next to a cut-off receiver front.URAR posted measurements for length around the same time. This should help you out. No,the cut-off is not for sale. ---bil
