Yeah, my CH is hanging up some too, I want to buy a new ratchet plate (come on, $15?) but it seems like a pain to replace, so I would just file away at parts or bend the plate a little outwards until everything moves alright. Of course I would do this after the welding is complete.

The rifle looks nice, I am having problems getting a cam section for mine, where did you get yours?

The charging handle binding seems to be a common problem. I had to file and stone mine until I got the CH to move without binding. I had a three cut receiver, so I only had one cut through the ratchet plate. But the torch really took out a swatch of the rachet plate. The piece of metal that stops the CH from moving back too far was gone.
What I did was build the gap up with weld., cleaned it up and then I welded a hump where the missing one had been. I then formed it into a nice rounded hump with the dremel. Unless you know what to look for, you would never know that the hump was a welded build up of metal. Came out pretty good if I may say so myself.
I was thinking of replacing the ratchet plate but rejected that idea. My ratchet plate was in good shape except for where the torch cut it. It was easier to repair it rather than replace it.

I purchased the cam section off a private seller on this site but I think they are all sold.

Cam sections are gone, you will need to fill up the missing space with weld and sheet metal.

For the cam sections, either you can buy a complete new ratchet plate and replace the entire piece, or you can section in a new piece and weld that in. I beleive trying to build up the damaged sections with weld will be difficult(at least more so than sec tioning in a piece) and you will have a better looking and more valuable gun with a sectioned in piece.
