Any interest in repro wood buttstocks?

Post by Dan@AngolaArmory »

I have a very talanted cabinet maker who is willing to make MG42 buttstocks in walnut, cherry or maple and oil finished.
The stock is laminated with three pieces of clear select lumber and uses original hardware (complete with latch). The buffer cup is glass bedded into the stock for strength and to prevent splitting. The stock is dimensionally identical to an original, the only exception is the lack of grooves in the rear.
Only the three species will be offered, with a three to four week lead time to deliver from order date.
No deposit will be required, price is $100.00 delivered to your door. I need at least ten units to make it worth his while to make them up.
Post below, PM or email me if you are interested.

I bought a replica stock complete with Waffenamt from Mike@mgstocks.com a while back for $250 and it is an absolutely PERFECT replica, right down to the size and shape of the grooves on the rear surface. Unfortunately, Mike has disappeared, so if you are going to make MG-42 stocks, Dan, you'll be the only game in town. Personally, a MG-42 without a wood stock is not as classy. Wood on a gun tends to lends certain style and history to it.

I delt with Mike too, I sold him some stock hardware. These are VERY nice, my poor pics do not do the part justice. I showed this to several vendors at KCR, they encourged me to go forward with this endevor.

btw, i got some of m1tankers unfinished grips, so can your guy stain the grips to match? without sounding too picky, why cant your guy put the lines in as well? i'm just mainly concerned about the 922(r) compliance, but new wood sure would spruce the old girl up.

Yeah, I bet if the guy put his mind to it he could cut grooves in the butt end of the stock. Maybe using checkering tools to cut the grooves.

That would drive the price up, I wanted to keep the price down.

suggestioln - $X.00 with, $Y.00 without. I would pay a couple of extra bucks to have mine grooved like the originals.

Would the carpenter be prepared to turn his hand to MG-34 stocks?
The answer lies in the soil!

I can ask, I'll let you know. They would just be the wood as I have no MG34 stock hardware.
