Got My BRP Receiver
Got My BRP Receiver
I guess the BRP receivers from the group buy are shipping, I got mine Tuesday.
After handling receiver pieces from Dan, it's kind of add to see it in one piece. Very nice, though.
Am I looking at it wrong, or is the blocking bar HUGE (more of a blocking plate)?

they cut a slot where the grip mouny goes and welded in the block , then the grip mount is supposed to be welded to that instead of riveted

BRP receiver arrived today
My BRP receiver arrived today. Surprised at how complete it is. Barrel latch, camming piece installed. Got the new made bolt carrier, bolt spring, new firing pin and a separate BRP designed FA bolt block. I've got a SA AR-15 style gripstick on the way as well. Now we proud owners of bright, shiney new receivers who are also technically challanged are going to need guidance in putting this into SA action. Sure would be nice if we could get a step-by-step photo tutorial just for this BRP project!!! Just think of the valuable humanitarian service this would be to your fellow man!!
Before drilling out the flat blocking plate, put a piece of wood through the feed slot and give it a smack with a hammer. The plate might just pop off the welds. Brian at BRP said removing the plate was a piece of cake. I was able to only drill 5 of the holes and I used an old hammer handle and one whack (not too hard) and the plate was out.
Also on my BRP receiver the caming piece had one of the roller raceways milled off, making it a dummy cam. Check to see if yours is milled or not. Hopefully you got an unmilled one.

Umm, camming piece? Roller raceway?? Can you post a pic or email me one so I know what they are? I think I will order JBaum's manual today.sscav wrote:snip...Also on my BRP receiver the caming piece had one of the roller raceways milled off, making it a dummy cam. Tried the hammer and block of wood. Back to the drill press. Found what you mean with the roller raceway milled off. Got the same thing in mine. So trunion that came in kit will be used. Does any welding need to be done to this receever to get her to run. TIA, Mikesscav wrote:Before drilling out the flat blocking plate, put a piece of wood through the feed slot and give it a smack with a hammer. The plate might just pop off the welds.
