I have a Harbor Freight %20 off coupon that can be used with the $199 sale price for instore purchases. The flyer I have shows it on sale for $199 in store until the 16th of this month. I got my tig unit for $169 including tax, the first person to email me gets the coupon, I don't know if they track them preventing them from being used more than once.

That depends on 2 things, how much you want to spend and how far is the welding supply.maxposner wrote:So, Pirate , how big of a argon bottle should I need to get started?
I am renting my bottle it is a 90 cu ft one and costs $6.00 a month. bottles new are expensive. you can sometimes find them used at a flea market or other places real cheap.

Pirate, I'm in and out of town daily, HF and the welding supply are on the way so its no problem getting to either . I didn't think it was possible to buy a used bottle and get it filled anywhere. It has been the norm that most tanks had to be filled where they were bought, I will have to look into this, otherwise I was going to look into a short term rental. When I finish this I don't want to have a rental around collecting dust during boating season. Also what settings do I use for normal welding on the receiver metal, this will be my base for starting. I was on a job, and was able to cut up a bunch of new scrap, some as thin as unistrut. I figure that if I can get this welded together and finished well, I should be ready to do a good job on my expensive scrap. So it is about to start, HF is supposed to have flow meters by Wednesday and the welding supply is down the street. I am wiring up an outlet today, let the smoke start.

A welding supply will exchange any bottle as long as the hydro test date is current. It used to cost $40.00 to hydro a bottle. If you pick up a bottle some where stamp "sold" on it.
I have picked up bottles cheap at a county surpluss outlet as well as a flea market.
As far a settings go for thin stock start at 3.

If you go to their web site and sign up to their email info. by clicking the link on the right side of the screen, it will say "FREE receive discounts, coupons, specials" sign up and they will send you 20% off coupons via. email once or twice a month. Just about as often as their sale flyers come out, you will get a coupon. It took a while but I finally started getting them.avanarts wrote:How do you get the 10% off coupons? I have never seen one in their print ads and even though I signed up for their e-mail list, I never get anything.TOM R wrote:if you watch the sale ads I have seen this as low as 169, if you get it on sale for the 199 then get one of their 10 % off cupons
You may need to sign up again. I will post the 10% and 20% off coupons as often as I can if this doesn't work for you. I will just email them to who ever responds to my post first. Hopefully it will help more people get busy in their shops. I am waiting for the day to use a 20% off coupon when they have their 12x36 lathe on sale for $1799. First I have to convince the wife she will need to park outside from now on as my bay is full of tools.
That is definately a drag.
When I went to get mine (on sale at $199) they only had one open box on the shelf. Then on my way out of the bathroom, which is in the stock room area, I spied ONE sealed box sitting all by its lonesome on an empty shelf. So I promptly snagged it and dropped it in my cart. :-)
Anyway, dont worry. They will go on sale again and again and you can get 10 and 20% off coupons pretty regularly. Just keep your eyes open for them. My 20% coupon was found in the back of the Enertainment Book that the neighbor made me buy to support her kids school. Aside from the car wash coupons it was about the most valuable item in the book.
