Need info on MG08 booster assembly
I have a question about the piston as shown in Dolfs book on pg 193. How does it screw onto the barrel, or is it a floating piston. From the pictures of booster assemblies I've found on 08s, barrel is flush with the gland/booster body, so how would the piston be able to be screwed on/off if its inside the booster body? Sorry if this is a stupid question and I'm just missing something obvious. If anyone has any pics of their booster installed, in assembled stages it would really help me visualize this.

Not a stupid question....the obvious is only that way to those who already know...
The booster piston on the MG 08 is a slip fit onto the end of the barrel and you can remove or install the booster without ever taking it apart. The only ones that screw onto the barrel are the ones on the MG 08/15. The piston in the 08 is handed so that it can only go one way on the barrel. It can be put into the booster backwards so look inside the piston and make sure the internal step is toward the rear. The piston fits over the threads and stops against the step at the rear of the threads on the barrel.
Hope that helps
Frank

Thanks for the reply. That makes perfect sense. I couldn't think of how the barrel would be removed if the piston was screwed on inside the booster.

Hallo,
see picture on http://www.mg08.de/Technische%20Daten/RSVdemont.jpg
the threads on Muzzle (if using the barrel in MG08) are only for using Blankfire Attachment.
The Piston do not have threads inside.
greetings
