Florida Gun works

Post by Intruder196 »

I was looking around for MG34 parts sets to maybe do a semi build and found that BRP has some, but without charging handles. Florida Gun Works lists them on their site. However, I have googled FGW and found they have HORRIBLE reviews and the consensus is they rip alot of people off. I have never done business with them.

That being said, has anybody ordered one of their MG34 parts sets and actually received it?

It's been established that they have done alot of people wrong. People also said similar things about Interordnance over the years. Yet I never had any troubles with IO. Not one.

But has anybody ordered a MG34 kit from FGW and actually received it?

If I were to take a chance on these guys, I would do it via credit card and the first sign of trouble have the bank reverse the charges and bail out. The ONLY reason I would even consider getting this from them is their MG34 parts set includes the charging handle. Something that I cant seem to find an alternate source for. The last two that sold on gunbroker sold for silly money. One went for around $225 the other sold for $190.

I totally agree with intruder. I have outstanding luck with IO, and despite the temptation never dared order from FGW.

It looks like during the parts kit heyday, all they would do is sell a parts kit (with usually a generous mark-up) to one customer then order that same parts kits from any of the online distributors selling them, and ship it out (when FGW actually shipped them), at a hefty mark-up. The trap is they have a website that readily shows up with Google, looks legit, and they tend to offer things when evryone else ran out. however it is a VERY shady operation. Make sure you can afford to tie up that money on the credit card because it may be a couple of months before your account gets credited when the transaction goes sour. E-mail ahead to get a confirmation they are in stock AND complete kits, you do not want the chucklehead had FGW to merely order a BRP kit and then you still are shorted the charging handle but paid a bunch more.

Well, I wont be ordering from FGW. My sole reason for even contemplating a risky buy from them was their MG34 kits were listed as "complete" (including a charging handle) minus the cut receiver. (although it made me suspicious since the photo of the kit shows a cut receiver)
Nobody else seemed to have charging handles in stock. But after posting last night I found one on gunbroker with a BIN price and bought it. Now I just need to get the kit from BRP, the semi auto bolt and trigger parts and I'll be set.

Don't wast you time even thinking about it.They have been out of mg34 parts kits for over a year now and it took them 3 weeks to tell me that after i ordered 2 kits off the website.Just buy one from brp. There is no way you can go wrong with buying from BRP.

I had already decided not to buy from FGW. But thanks for answering my original question. Glad to find out that they did not have these parts kits in stock anyways.

Thanks for reviving this thread...Missed it the first time it came around in '09.

I've seen FGW and they had a lot of interesting stuff...but something did seem a bit peculiar with them.

Would be interesting if anyone on the board here could mention a positive experience in dealing with them.
