GERMAN Buzz bomb fuel nozzle and shrapnel pics.

my grandfather was stationed with the 8th Airforce, 353rd fighter group at Raydon, England during ww2. aside from some of the 8th Airforce stuff i inherited from his recent passing, were these pieces in the pics. he told me he found these after a raid.

the round plate thing, was some sort of access door i think, and it says " VW 43 " for Volkswagen, 1943 . the shrapnel is very thick and is still very sharp. the fuel nozzle is the really strange / cool part, as i think the engines on the buzzbombs were a pulse jet.

if anyone can add any info based on my pics, i would be most grateful.

Couple questions, how big are the items? Some of the shrapnel definitely looks like bomb casing as its from a cast item.
How big is the "VW" cover and what is on the other side of it?
Also could you post a pic of the end of the brass part of the fuel nozzle?

Forgot to add. Generally speaking any kind of important part, such as a fuel nozzle, would be safety wired. Look for small holes around the "gripping" part of the nut section, if that makes any sense.

thank you for taking the time to reply. i work in Aerospace and the nozzle is indeed drilled for safety wire. i took a pic of the pieces with a 6 inch mechanics scale for size reference. the cad plated ( brass colored) piece is magnetic, and has a single hole counterbored through it, but it has bleed holes cut into the sides, and is not drilled all the way through.

i mess with exotic cars as a hobby, and this looks just like a big, primitive pressure style fuel injector, similar to the Bosch / Porsche CIS systems from the early 70's. funny how technology works.

my grandfather said he pried off the round cover the get to the fuel nozzle. the cover is supposed to be round and contoured to the round pulse jet engine. i cannot find any good pics up close. there is a great 8th Airforce museum near me that i will contact. i used to go there with my grandfather, and he had all sorts of tales to tell. i guess i have been avoiding the place since he passed so recently.

i will try to get an up close pic later. the battery in the camera is dead.

That is a really unique collection. Your grandfather was quite industrious to grab that, I have not seen many V1 parts around.
