Newest photos of my MG42
Need to put the front sight on after the bluing, but couldn't resist taking some photos right off the bat... Finally was able to get some oxphoblue, no one up here in Alaska carries it, and no one from the lower 48 would ship it w/o an outrageous hazmat charge. Came out pretty book with the oxphoblue, not perfect, but I'm happy with it. Put about four coats on, found it went much better when I heated it in the oven to around 200 before applying the bluing. Oiled afterwards with plain ole' Hoppes oil. Chris.....

Chris,
Looks like a classy piece of machinery, WELL DONE
To say nothing of the build itself-which is impressive, I think you did damn good with the cold blue, especially Oxphoblue. I used that on a Mauser 71/84 and I did not have anywhere near the success you did. I like Blue Wonder but it easily gets a little too much of a shine for military guns, whereas yours came out very nice.
How is the range report?
AR15 or Fal FCG?

Re: Newest photos of my MG42
I went with the AR15 trigger group, the hammer was dragging on the underside of the bolt so I shaved a little bit off (probably too much). I'm getting light primer hits about 50% of the time. I put in a Wolf Spring, and I have an adjustable grip stick from Panaceabeachbum (Richard T), I'm going to change out the hammer and drop the gripstick height to remedy the problem, I'm confident that with full hammer mass and the wolf spring I'll be good to go. I'm pretty happy with how the Oxphoblue camo out, I also blued an AK receiver, the metal seems softer on the AK receiver, as a result it took the bluing much easier than the 42 did. Chris...
