I've been working on a SA-42 for a while.The only thing that is holding me up on getting it done is the recuperater.Could someone post a pic on how exacally it goes in, I just might be missing some parts cause nothing is making sense.

Sounds like you need a manual, showing where all the parts go.... ahem.
The recuperator goes in the bottom left of the receiver, with the spring loaded button where it will push against the back of the barrel extension. You should have a small hole on the left side of the receiver, just down from where the feed tray goes, about 3/4" back from the Cam Piece, to bolt the recuperator into place. There is a series of springs and spacers that go inside it. See the picture below for that. The picture is from one of the manuals I've translated. The PDV 918 has exploded diagrams of all assemblies of the MG42. When installed, the recuperator is actually kind of hard to see. It fits below the left bolt rail.

schematics are best had from Jbaum. I first got the Germ.Univ.Mach.gun book thinking otherwise,
I was wrong. Large photos of specific areas are a nessasary for assembly, cleaning, troubleshooting.
His books can be taking with you in the 'field', just in case. Check out the website. he has many different
manuals on many different german guns as well.

BOOKS and More BOOKS
Books are the best thing a firearms lover can have! Besides information that is enjoyable reading, they contain a wealth of information. For the MG42/1/2/3, there are no books better than John Baum's Translations. These are translations of the original German Manuals.
These aren't assembly manuals, but they contain the parts breakdowns that show great exploded views. So far, these are the best we have for the gun. As "karbinator" stated, take a look at John's website for the books available and e-mail John for a suggested order of which books you may need first.
