So where do I start

Post by RaccoonRough »

Hello,

I am new to this board and would like to ask a question.

I want a semi auto MG 34 real bad but have no idea where to start. Is there any suggestions on where or what I need to get first?

Where should I get a parts kit and recieiver?

Thanks for any input.

Welcome!

I am not sure what to tell you about kits and rec. anymore. I just checked the known suppliers, and they are all out at the moment. You may want to look on http://www.Gunbroker.com . kits and rec. come up from time to time. you just need 1 more post to get into the for sale section here where kits and rec. show up also.

You might want to try TNW at http://www.tnwfirearms.com/.

hope some of this helps. It seems that kits have dried up for the moment.

Welcome aboard! you came to the right place.First read as much here as you can stand.Lots of good info, especially the stickies, either their own section near the bottom of the index page,or in each section.Right now most of the info is on the 42/53,as the 53 front kits were real low in price lately, and repro receivers are expected any time now.I also favor the 34.Try Allegheny Arsenal,I have had good luck getting 34 parts kits from them. Not always in stock. There are some receivers for sale from IMA,but look at the pictures before you buy-they are really cut hard. They also sell both ends, and a member here ,Helix,is working on a new receiver center section.Get in your 5 posts so you have access to the For Sale section, stuff pops up there sometimesGood luck, and have fun! ---bil

Well it just makes me feel good that I could give something that was at least amusing back to this forum. I have really enjoyed chatting with alot of guys in here.

I actually managed to get three MG53 parts kits on order from Sarco and hopefully I will have them soon. That is my first step towards owning a Semi MG42. I still have hopes of getting a MG 34 Semi in the future as well.

I think I am getting adicted all over again. And its good.

Thanks Bil

Well that is good to hear! I just hope, for the sake of everyone and future 34 builds, that 34 parts kits become available again at a reasonable price. There is a kit on GB right now that is about $400. above what it originally sold for retail.

I think that a 34 kit for $400 will look like a bargain soon. They are getting harder to get, seeing as the yugos never made a zillion of them like the 53s.These were done being built by 46 at the latest, and any big pile of them has already been found and is out there. Most of the kits you see now aren't coming from the big guys. The last kit I got was almost $600. ---bil

Bil,

I said it is $400. above what it originally sold for....meaning it is now, last time I looked at $980.
