I'm not sure where you got this information. Any good welder can do the work with a TIG with ease. Completed two semi receivers from IMI rear sections and torched front shroud. Made my own camming piece for one of them. Granted it takes a little more work (about 6 hours more than a 3 cut). I also build up the receiver sections where metal is removed with torch so the gaps are tighter (nicer finish also).hakentt wrote:Good luck welding those cuts, You can hire best welder and it will be worst nightmare for him
At this point in time, it's only getting harder to get a nice complete receiver, regardless of how much you are willing to spend. I'd rather help one cobble together a receiver from mismatched parts than not see them build one at all.
I believe that if someone were to design a dedicated jig that used rivet holes, cammin holes ect that a lot more of these cobled kits could be build into nice semis.

You can get the Barrel Bushing from the Group Buy on Weaponeer.net Ther are new made and include the keyways. They cost about $100 each plus shipping.lkiers wrote:Hi guys, i am new to this board.

As for the camming sections, keep your eyes on the board here, and be prepared to jump fast when one shows up. They have been going fast lately since the 3 and 4 cut kits dried up.

I think that on weaponeer under the group buy on the 1st or 2nd page there is a photo of someone's build that has it tack welded in place. There is a little bit more left on the front of this person's front shroud than there is on the typically available front shrouds that are currently available. I have figured out that if I use some 1.5" inside diameter tubing(generally used for sten semi projects), that the wall thickness of that tubing is almost big enough to match the OD of the barrel bushing. I can split this tubing length-wise, expand it just a little bit, and graft on the short section that is currently missing from my Yugo m53 front shroud. After grafting on a longer length than is necessary, I can cut that down to match what I need for proper installation of the bushing. I will post pics when I have accomplished just that.
Camming section - if you bought the IMA pieces and a barrel shroud, put them together. THere's a 1-3" piece missing in the middle, grab the square machined truntion out of the kit, it's supposed to fit in the middle there. This is the missing link that everyone has their panties in a pucker over. It can be fabbed, but really isn't that easy.
