Ok, so now that the MG42 receiver problem will be....
As I stated in a post last week,I ordered a bushing repair piece through wise-lite.It got here in record time, and is a work of art! Not only that, but the shipping was less than he thought,so he gave me a $6 credit!! where else do you find that today? Wise-lite--on a scale of 1 to 10,I give them an A plus! ---bil
Just today I spoke to Tony at Wise Lite Arms. In the course of our conversation I reminded him that there were a good number of folks still quite interested in pricing of the WLA MG42/Yugo M53 receiver and also wanting to know if "Camming sections" can be stamped out. He stated that he has not forgotten, but as of today doesn't have an answer to either question. As with all big projects there are other folks involved and he needs complete info from them in order to make an accurate quote.big steve wrote:Excuse us Mr. Wiselite, but it is way past next week!wiselitearms wrote:The wall thickness is .100 I will post priceing next week.
So, please be patient and I'll be sure to post as soon as solid info is available.
Thanks for checking Sledge! I just read on another board that Century is going to be selling MG42's built on WLA's receivers. Just wondering if us little guys will be left out in the cold? Or priced out in the cold? Man I'm getting cold thinking about it!Sledge303 wrote:Just today I spoke to Tony at Wise Lite Arms. I spoke to Tony at Wise Lite Arms again today. The good news is that a separate "Camming Section" can be produced for the folks that want to buy them to complete their de-milled MG42 receivers.big steve wrote:Thanks for checking Sledge! You are correct that Century will be selling Yugoslavian M53's using Wise Lite Arms receivers and assemblies. Tony feels that he will be selling the receiver halves, "Camming Section", grip/fire control group, muzzle bearing and bolt conversion. http://www.weaponeer.net is planning on offerring a "group buy" on all but the receivers/"Camming section".
Tony doesn't have all the figures yet for receiver/"camming section" pricing and it doesn't look like those numbers will be in for at least another 1-2 weeks. The "Shot Show" is all anyone is talking about right now.
Just to help you understand the scope of this project/program. Work was started last spring. Machines were purchased, stamping dies have been made, tested, adjusted and tested again. Entire "works" guns have been made and used as "test mules". There is a lot of effort from a lot of people in this Yugoslav M53. Wise Lite Arms has a lot of money out in tooling for just this receiver. However, the end result is something that you should hear Tony speak of. There is so much enthusiasm and pride (for the product) that comes across in his voice! I wish my work "managers" had as much dedication and caring about what we do.
So, no numbers yet. But I promise that when I know I will get them posted!
Trip to Wiselite
Yes Sledge303 hit it right on the money. I drove over to Wiselite Arms on 01-10-07 and I was impressed. Wooooooowwwwww what a cool operation. Tony does have a high quality expectation of his product. He test and retest his product untill it is right. He is not in a rush to ship a product that may not be right. He showed me examples of changes made due to problems after many, many rounds of punishment and test. I saw guns that were complete prototypes but were still in punishment phase. I truely beleive that the Wiselite product will be the best on the market. He has a team at the machine shop pouring over these products untill they are the utmost top quality. I cant wait. I also want real bad for him to take over the Maxim project since I have no idea who is trying to get approval and what the status. I think he could get it done. Sorry Tony. I had to throw that in and I will bug you about that later. Tony has a gerat attitude and will be great to work with. ........Kev

just a word, i would be careful with new stampings ( this is no slam) the brp ones are prone to having thin spots which crack when fired and welds that break, these are not made the same as originals and not stamped in the same method, it is nice that everyone wants to jump on an new product and finish their project but just remember a little caution, that is your face going next to their sheetmetal, i would want to see some running guns with no probs first, just my .02
Great men are born in fire, it is the privilege of lessor men to light the flame, no matter the cost

I dont mind being a test pilot for the new receivers the face aint all that pretty anyway and besides there arent that many options available besides paying someone 7-8 times what they paid for some scrap cut reicivers $1200.00-$1800.00 I'll take my chances on the new ones thank you. I'm no Millionair & if I was I would be Buying an NFA/FA I like the Hobby and challange of building this stuff up and the 80% receivers require a little hands on extra TLC soo I will be gettin a Cold Steel & drilling & Grinding And Cuttin away WOOHOO look out
