Help Identify my MG 42 / 53

Post by shootermcgavin »

Hello,

I am Canadian and I have come across an MG 42. I have had it a few years and have recently decided to try and identify it.

It is stamped with waffens everywhere but on the side of the receiver it is stamped

DF
3019e
dd

there is no year or 'MG42' stamp, I think it is a 1945 mauser, by the DF and dd but I cannot find anything definitive. Does anyone have an idea?

Thanks,
Gavin

Hello Gavin,

You are right, it is a Mauser made Mg manufactured in 1945.
DF date code for 1944 and 45.
3019e serial number.
dd Mauser manufactures code in 1945.
As they used the same date code for 44 and 45 you would have seen a manufacturers code ar
on 1944 made guns.

Jonathan.

I would think the logical place to post your pictures is in the thread you already have right here.
