I just picked up my MG42 and now in the process of getting a list together of what I need to buy for the old girl and right from the gate I know I need belts and a loader. I have the org. 8mm set up and was wondering if I can use the 308 belts on 8mm and vise versa. I would also like to buy one loader and would like to be able to use on either caliber.

There have been conversion kits made in the past to make one loader work with both calibers, but for the $150 difference in price between a second loader and a conversion kit, it's barely worth the trouble.

Belts have already been covered on this board in great detail. Do a search for belts. It will answer your questions.
