Milled mg34 topcover price check please

Post by Kammy1717 »

Trying to put a value on a kit I am being offered there is not much special about the kit but it has a milled cover. so I can't give really much more detail than that it is intact in working order. Milled early style cover not a trommel cover. Thanks

Lol, that be the reason I was asking, the proofs were scrubbed on the kit, I couldn't tell the age of the shroud by the holes, wasn't sure on what a good value would be, then saw he was bidding- his screen name was familiar I try not to bid up "friendlies" if I can help it. Thank you for the reply. One of these days I will find a decent kit...I have been shopping for months.-john

I ended up doing a buy it now on the kit. I have a really nice 1938 kit that the Russians rebuild and used a renumbered stamp cover on. I really wanted the kit because of the cover, however if it is truly a all matching kit then it will be put together as a semi-auto. I have a all matching 1943 kit at TNW getting a matched number semi-auto receiver made for it as I did not have any receiver pieces for it. This one comes with the cut receiver so I should be able to do a re-weld on it as a semi-auto. I will let you know condition when I receive. Harry

I would like details when you receive it I assumed it was a force matched kit, it would be great to see what it really is.

VERY NICE kit, Congrats, too bad the receiver de-mill was not a more friendly cut to the front, however with spare pieces, a jig, some cold beer and a hot TIG welder all can be forgiven

Since we got a discussion going, what value would you attribute to the topcover itself, valuing the rest of the kit as just spare parts? Just trying to put a value to some of these things, I have seen quite a few good buys I am kicking myself on for not being a more aggressive but I would rather spend a lot of money on a gem than a lot of money on a pile of mix matched parts. So just for
Info. Any insight would be appreciated. -john
