Newbie Here Checking In.

Post by Savage11 »

Hello all,

First off, I would like to say hello to all the talented individuals on this forum. I have been wanting to build an MG53 for quite some time now. I will be purchasing a kit in the next month. I have built quite a few AKM variants over the past few years, but I have heard that an MG53/42 is much more difficult. I have welding experience as well as sheet metal experience. What recommendations would you all give to a newbie such as myself, what to buy, what not to buy, bets vendors and so forth and the best recommended building process? Any and all information welcome!

Best regards,

Savage11

Welcome to the website. I have posted on this several times. Please use your search button for all of the info.
If you want a shooter get the parts kit from

http://mg34.com/

as it should all be from one weapon that was working

History looking for a German then lots of ebay gunbroker searching.

Next get the kit from centerfire and look for receiver shells. Or buy them from brp

http://brpguns.com/

post a few more questions and we will be happy to work with you. I was setting up a nice listing of builds but the software was upgraded and things have changed.

Don't know if he still has any left, but Bill ( Global Machine & Tool LLC) had some nicely made MG42 rear reciver sections for about $200, which is what I'm using on my latest build. Can be contacted at his shop 817-636-5606. (no website that I'm aware of). He has a pretty good deal right now on ratchet plates as well.
