MG34\42 lafette price.

Post by olli »

Just bought a mg34 lafette who has been made in to a mg42 lafette. All done pre 1945.
What would be the price for a lafette like this in the US?

Came with the postman today :D

Question: Did any nation rework the mg34 lafette to fit an mg42? Is mine pre 1945 reworked?

Olli, overseas.

Interesting. Well in looking at the 3rd pic and thinking about the mg34/42 book, I think that the back support piece for the buffer tube looks like it was made for the mg42. Since it's welded there I think that it might have always been a mg42 lafette. That said there are others out there that might know more on this one and say that your thoughts on mg34 to mg42 lafette are correct.
Still looks nice. Not a lot of them out there.

Ok, Thanks for posting more pics of it. I'll look at my mg34 and mg42's later tonight and think about your pics. Then I might change my mind again.

Well now the new pics tell a story. With dates of 1938 on two different areas I'm thinking that it was as you stated, a mg34 lafette made into a mg42. Now I have heard that some were done by the Germans but have heard a lot of stories that most were redone by the yugo's as they received the tooling to make mg42's.
Value to me is what the German mg42 lafette's are going for and not much more. Of course that is a large range that I have seen from $895 (Sarco news ad @ this time) to $2,500 on gunbroker. I just picked up 2 for less than the $895 that need some minor work.
Nice to see the lafette and the search fire have the same year of 1938.

Olli,
From what i can see this is a very nice lafette with possible original camo paint under there somewhere!!!
Also from what i see the straps look like they are possibly original its hard to tell from these pics closer ones will help . I have seen them sell for over 700.00 alone.
