What are gurtfullers going for now?

Post by jmann »

I have a gurtfuller I have been using for years to load 8mm into vickers belts. Not shooting 8mm any more and I have 3 of these things. Thinking of trading this one off if I can get an idea of value.
Thanks

You have 3 of them. Nothing like having a spare around. Sorry can't help value wise.

Good Luck

Three's a charm. Seriously though I bought this one to load for my maxim as the one that came with my first 08 was unused. I didnt want to mess it up. Then I dumbed into another 08 and it came with one as well. I thought all 08's came with a sled and these things.:)

Prices on these seem to be all over the place. I would say an average of $800-$1000ish depending on what is coming with it (box tools). If comeplete up to $1250ish.

This one is as pictured. No box or tools. I turned down $3000 a year ago for one of mine but it is new in the original box with all the tools. I figured this one was worth a lot less than that.
It is the only way to go for someone shooting 8mm in tabbed belts. Those plate type loaders are a real pain if you do any amount of shoothing.

You should have taken that! I have never seen one even with crazy GB bidding go over $1750. I bought mine in the box with all tools missing the handle for $500. I bought another off GB about like yours for $650-$700 I can't remember. Remember IMA just dumped a lot on the market and still may have some. Even if they are not as original... still floods the market.

Are the ima ones not messed up, er I mean converted to load the aluminum turk belts? I dont believe they will properly load the cloth belts anymore.
I probably should have sold my good one but its just so perfect, I dont think I could ever replace it ant any price.

That is correct that IMAs will likely not work well with cloth but the demand on these is not real high. Like you said most guns come with one. However if you get two people, that need one to shoot, the price goes crazy! Feast or famine! The prices I gave you to begin with are what I have been seeing. If I had to sum up my price watching on these for the last 5 years I would say with box and tools $1000-$1400. No box and tools $650-$950. If I was selling this one on my list, not considering a higher intro price, I would expect to sell in the $850-$900 range. My friend will need one eventually. I am looking for one for him in the under $750 range and ideally around $650 but I have time and can wait for a good deal there! You have to remember a lot of people are shooting metal belts. Its just a matter of how many buyers you have in the market right now.

I'm aware of two that have sold in the past six weeks for between $1300 and $1600. Both mostly complete with all tools and parts in the box. One nice the other beautiful. Neither had the instruction booklet, but I've only seen one pamphlet ever.

Joe are you trying to make me depressed?? I have been trying to find a good boxed German WWI (untouched/unconverted) belt loader for 7 years!! The USA is the place to find them but I do try and monitor the well known sites. So as you can guess I have been unaware of these 2 recent sales. So if any of the members have an original complete untampered set then pse let me know. There are also 2 types of boxes for these so I know it is a bit 'in the weeds' but does anyone known why the pattern of box changed - presumably one first pattern followed by a later second pattern.
Thanks
Mark

In the last year a number of 08 loaders have changed hands, none pristine and complete, but in decent condition with the tools and good boxes in the $1600-1800 and up price range. I tried to help a customer on a trade who was offering a set in good condition valued at $2000 and the trade didn't happen. At Knob Creek two sessions back there were two 08 loaders that needed parts and repair for $750 apiece. Haven't seen any actiion with 08 loaders wihtut boxes for along time. I did buy an 08 loader complete and functional without the box and tools in 7.65mm though for short money because it was represented as 7.92 but the hopper was way too short for 7.92.
The really nice complete pristine 08 loaders witn box/tools seem to have vanished into collections.
