Are F4 MG08/15's even selling anymore?

Post by nfafan »

Out of curiosity, is there even a market anymore for a live F4 08/15?

I see posts discussing F1 DEWATs and REWATs, but have to wonder if its case of Florida beachfront where only the well-monied are actually buying - and sellers are SOL with a take-it or leave-it.

There is a machine gun price guide online. Not sure what it takes to make this guide. It contains info on number of guns sold and price ranges.

For the 08/15 as reported on that page lists about 20 sold in the last year. With a price trend around 10.5K

Like any guns, its hard to say as its all on the secondary market. The market has taken a good hit with the economy and ammo prices... people are buying SMGs. It seems to me the price is down about 15%-20% but they seem to be entering and leaving the boards at about the same rate as normal given a good price. If you are asking $15K, yeah its going to sit until the money is worth less.

I do know this, every list I put out sells out of good parts still. So there are still people fixing them up and shooting them.

For what it's worth, I have sold quite a few MGs since last fall, about a dozen with some quite high end, and almost a dozen brokered DDs with a few left to sell. Prices have been good, not world beaters, but accceptable to the NFA buying community. This includes two C+R brokered 08/15s at $8500 apiece that I didn't even have to advertise, just pointed them at those looking for one and they were sold. I have a third ready to go at that price. Unless an 08/15 is exceptional, it isn't going to bring $10.5k at this time, and p[robably for quite a while. Exceptional MGs will always sell, anyway.
IMO buying is picking up in most catagories of NFA that have been down, but it seems still to be a buyer's market for the "commodity' MGs. Good time to buy!

Now that my MG-42 is gone, the thought occurred to me to save up and buy an MG-08/15 since I have all this 8mm ammo stored up, and once you've owned one beltfed... well...

Really... haven't you ever heard of a Mortgage?!?!?! We need a whip crack sound! He once accused me of being a parts collector with no guns... I guess he is now an Ammo collector with no gun!

Congrats! Everyone should make that mistake once (and only once).

DA
Congrads on getting engaged. And to think you still have all of that ammo.

A house, upcoming wife, and ammo. What more could you ask for.... KID'S???. Ok, maybe something to shoot the ammo out of. Well think about the budget.

Again Congrads on getting engaged........

Congrats on getting engaged!!! Get the next 8mm belt fed before the wedding, though... that way it's a done deal...

OR you could always sell the ammo to buy furniture and related stuff after you get hitched... :D

Wow! Leave it to DA to start a new wedding tradition :) Instead of exchanging wedding rings, they load 8mm ammo belts together, wear the belts during the reception, and then hang them over the door during the honeymoon!

Just teasing DA! Congrats and best wishes to you and your fiance.

Pat and Jim Ballou were wedded at the North Country Shoot up in Straford Hollow, NH many years ago. They were married in front of a Stuart tank with a pair of Thompsons doing a couple of fity round drum dumps as a salute at the end of the ceremony just as the sun was just setting. Beautiful!

I don't think we are going to go that route. But, my fiance specifically said never to sell the MP-40. She likes shooting that one. The work on the house has come to a quick halt due to lack of funds, but the important things were fixed. Plus, the outdoor swimming pool with the waterslide is up and running. Been enjoying that with family and friends a lot lately, with all this hot weather and all.
