Receiver Lettering

Post by papple1 »

Has any of you guys come up with a way to re-letter the reciever. Half of my MG-42 lettering on the left rear of my reciever was cut during the assault with the gas axe that AA used and would like to redo it so it would look good. Im sure the local engraver at the jewlery store would freak out if you ask him to do it

correct assumption, as in the first three letters of the store title say something........I would look at harbor freight and most tool stores. I got lucky and had a set at work, but no lower case  .

I looked on ebay and there were lots of those hand punch letter/number sets, but I did not see any lower case.......let me know if you find any.

If you want it to look original, send it to Steve at tom sawyer manufacturing. He goes my likemopar of arfcom, 1919a4.com and I think he plays or lurks here.

Great guy, quick turn around, excellent work and he's an SOT so there are no FFL issues. I cant say enough good about him.

A much better person to ask would be Steve himself. He did an ORF RSP for my 1919 with the correct syntax and font for the original BMG and it was less than $100. To do the ATF SBR required engravings and duracoat the lettering, I think he charges something like $25-35 and door to door time was under 2 weeks last time he did one for me.

Like I said earlier - He's an outstanding guy (and he's welded up his own post sample mg-42 so that's one more reason to like him!)
