Ever wonder about those ground dug tripods? Looks like the guy in the video does them from Eastern Europe. I just can’t imagine how restoring a ground dug is better then buying a Yugo Laffete or if it would sell. Can anyone translate what he’s saying?

Re: Ground Dug Laffete Restoration
Thats pretty damn cool
Re: Ground Dug Laffete Restoration
I think he said he should have bought one when they were available at SARCO
Re: Ground Dug Laffete Restoration
I looked at some of his other videos and he seems to be tied into some local museum. If you check the video you can see a bunch of receivers and other ground dug stuff. I guess it would be fun working on it if you were someplace that has this local history. This tripod will need a lot of primer and paint to smooth out all that pitting. I wonder if anyone saw this come up on ebay. Of course, if the imports run out then someone will be bragging about the great ground dug deal they picked up. Did they really run out of tripods at Sarco?

In case you were fixating on the 'Pod, you'll also notice he has a whole bunch of interesting guns in various states of completeness and recovery sitting propped up against the walls of the shop.
He must live in an interesting area.

Yeah, did you see all the guns he has in his workshop? There's an MG42 leaning in a corner, by the way. The video he put up titled "Our Arms Museum" has some neat stuff in it. They've obviously ground dug most of them- including not just a tanker MG34 with the double drum mounted on it, but a Chauchat, a MG08, a french 7.5 mm LMG, an MP38, and more. He really must be in an interesting area!

Wow,
I have to admit, I like how he keeps his shop so nice and clean. I'm sure he tells his friends he could eat off the bench its so clean.
