recup question
Ok at about 2 am I finally took a brake. I have everything together but I notice that I can get the barrel door to close since the barrel extension binds on the end of the recuperator. If I hold back the end (muzzle) with a screw driver I can get every thing to lock up/close just fine so I pretty sure its moving fine and assembled ok. I just didnt want to bend or screw something up by really forcing the barrel in there.
your thoughts.
And for those feeling overwhelmed or discouraged, dont quit! An assembled Mg-42 mounted on the Mg3 tripod is AWESOME and causes immediate penile blood flow!

ok doc, the barrel should bind a tad bit on the recoup when installin, a lite smack on the door should close it, this is why the barrel lock is slightly tapered, now if the recoup is stickin out way to far then you got the front screw in backwards, remove the recoup, when you install that front bolt in it the long side needs to face the rear of the gun, I say the long side cause my ww2 kit has long and short, be sure to use the correct 9mm socket on the recoup nuts and snug them as they strip easy, before firein perhaps degrease and put some locktite on them

Hey, where do you get that bolt for the rear of the recup tube? I bought a parts kit from Allegheny and it only came with the front nut. Does anyone else have a kit from allegheny? First off its a 4 cut receiver and the cuts arent flattering, goes through the bearing in front, and right through the markings on the rear plate. Its only an early bnz '44, common enough but the receiver matches the feed cover. I recently found this sight after seeing it posted on g-k forum. I plan to build a s/a 42 ( how novel ) and I can already see this is a great forum, thanks in advance, Danny

You know, since we're removing the catch legs off the bolt bottom, I'm thinking you really don't need that special
bolt on the rearward recup hole. The original bolt when inserted though the recup, and down into the grip
hole, it is flat ontop, and has a notch that enters the hole....allowing you to tighten the nut without holding the bolt.
I guess it would be nice to have the original, but when looking at it in my semi, you still have room to use a regular
small nut and bolt combo, and it still wouldn't interfere with the recoil spring. Just a thought
