Got the MG34 running today

Here ya go guys got the 34 up and running today.

What I did to get it running and to give a lighter trigger pull was
1. Polish the sear ring so the "humps" on it were smaller and smoother
2. grind and polish the sear lever end that contacts the sear ring. I made it more rounded and alot smoother
3. I took the ramp on the sear gate (think thats the name of it) and added some welds so the ramp was taller and more gradual. I then polished the ramp to make it very smooth.

All this seemed to help alot and as you can see its got a relatively fast rate on it. The only problems I had is the topcover kept popping open thats why Im holding it like that with my left hand. At the end of the day I found that my recuperator plunger was stuck in the rear position but I think that may be some crud in there. Ill know more when I take it apart.

Thanx man, I did have a couple problems I found when going over it today. I have a small crack in a weld but nothing that cant be fixed. Also the recuperator is jammed all the way back. Not sure how Im gonna get it out

On the recuperator it sounds like the channel may not be perfectly smooth, it'll easily bind up on any burrs. If you pull the retaining pin out of the receiver does that relieve pressure on it? Chris... BTW....when you have time post some pix of your work....I'd like to lighten my trigger pull up a little bit...

Yeah thats what I was thinking, burrs in the channel. I took the pin out and its still stuck in there. Here are some pix of what I did



The ramp on the gate is actually nice and smooth just looks rough in the picture

Instead of welding on the trigger Bar I had different size gripstick rollers made, i put a bigger diameter roller in the front and a smaller 1 in the back! By bigger i mean bigger than the TNW rollers!! I did this becasue when i cocked the gun to fire it i ran out of trigger pull with the tnw rollers, i might have some more made for board members to solve their trigger problems! p.s. when i would pull my trigger everything went upwards the triggerbar the sear lever and finaly the bolt bottomed out but no firing pin release! buit now iy=ts fixed!!! later nauheim!

just got back from the range!!! once the gun got hot it started to run alot better, all except for the yugo& romy ammo, but all in all it ran pretty good! later nauheim!!!
