Re: Sarco "LAFETTE GROUND TRIPOD"
Finally got some time to piddle with mine last night. The front "leg" was really tight when I first got it & I had to use a hammer to tap it out to extend it. The lever "catch" mechanism for the leg was also frozen up.
I found out you can't take the inner leg out of the outer leg tube, so I removed the whole subassembly & found that it was stiff because it was bent. A little work with the shop press w/ some 1" fullers & a little emery paper and the leg was free. To free up the adjustment stop pin, I had to drill out the rivet holding the handle on & worked it back & forth with some vice grips to get it out. Some more rust removal & now it works like a charm. I turned a new rivet (it's a shouldered rivet) on the lathe to replace the drilled out one & it's done.
Now if I can find a oil brush lid....

Re: Sarco "LAFETTE GROUND TRIPOD"
Has anyone stripped the paint off of a post ww2 yugo without the sight mount on it? I am curious if the mount was removed and ground down or if it is a new made part. I was late to the party and bought one without the sight mount last week.
I am going to restore this one to ww2 paint before I do my original Al Arsenal pod.

Question for everyone that bought a lafette and got one with a bolt box....
Did you receive a mg34 or mg42 bolt box. The difference is the mg34 has 2 spring "bumps" and the mg42 has only one "bump". See pic page 234 of Myrvang's book.
I received a mg34 bolt box on my mg42 lafette and was wondering if I was the only one??

Mine came with a 34 bolt box.
There's currently a 42 bolt box on ebay.

Thanks for the update on that as I was looking at that.
mg34 for mg42 bolt box, I'm not the only one.
So far I have found 2 for sale;
one for $250 and the other one from the above auction..
