Hello fellow addicts, I have a problem. Pictures to prove it
Hello fellow gun collector Addicts, my name is Matt and I have a problem. I can not seem to bring myself to sell any Maxim Locks. I am not a bigot either... I have Chinese, Russian, German, Locks and even a Mixed member being 2/3rds Russian and 1/3 German. As many of you know I sell a good bit of the stuff that I come across but can not seem to bring myself to sell Locks. For some reason these parts seem more likely then the rest to run out. Anyway I know I have a problem and I don't what help solving it! Consider me the guy on the corner asking for money to buy more of my bad habit!
For you less organized: For those of you that like the guy with the sign saying he need more for alcohol! From left to right:
1. German/Russian Lock. 8mm headspacable for German guns that will not otherwise headspace.
2. Chinese T24 Lock
3-4. Demilled and broken MG08 locks.
5-14. MG08 or MG08/15 Locks in working order
15-20. Russian M1910 Locks in working order
21. Vickers Semi Lock.
Also note Lock 5 and 11 I think are Armorers locks, one un-numbered, one only stamped on the arm.
These locks right now supply the following parts kits:
German LMG08/15 (X2)
German MG08/15
German MG08
Chinese T24
Russian M1910 (X2)
British Vickers
Anyway thought you guys might find it interesting and I was a bit bored and can't go out and work on guns now.

Well I have two registered MG08/15s waiting ATF approval... so not just parts for long!
Re: Hello fellow addicts, I have a problem. Pictures to prove it
You nut!
Seriously, would you mind writing down the serial numbers you've got, or at least getting a better, clearer picture of those German 08 locks??
I'd be happy to do the same with mine, and perhaps we can make sure that we don't have each other's matching # locks???
Bob Naess and I happen to have serial #'s matching locks #s 2 and 3 from a gun neither of us own. You never know what's out there!

It's tough being a collector trying to piece back together pieces of lost history that have been scattered to the winds.

Yep. I think between all of us here, we could probably list off a bunch of the ### on the locks we've got, and quite possibly put some together. I've discovered the old Interarms dewats, and the 1919 era dewats brought back and given away, were brought in with the locks. The locks were removed as part of the dewat procedure. Interarms sold the locks off seperately, in their flyers, or even by the box load. It's hard to say what the Gov't did with them back then, but I'll bet they were sold as surplus, I wouldn't be surprised if Bannerman's got them. Some of these guns were matching #'s probably, until the dewat stuff; therefore, there's a big chance that the matching # lock is really out there for some of our 08's and 08/15's!

The hording of gun parts , nobody collects gun parts like Maxim guys VERY Nice collection Matt.
Luckily my budget constrains me from giving in to such urges, but the reality is to keep a gun running that was mostly manufactured, notwithstanding Third Reich parts (like locks, barrels, etc.) at the latest 91 years ago, and no ready supply of parts at any of the distributors, well you have to be prepared.
Lets see some more pictures of the Sled overhaul

Its only hording when you don't have a part you need
But when you have an extra for something you just got thats missing a part... then its priceless!
I also look at it this way. I am 27. I will probably be 28 before I get this gun shooting. Lets say I can shoot until I am 65 (Yeah I hope longer too, but for the hell of it). Thats 37 Years of shooting a gun that when I am 28 will be 92 years old and when I am 65, 129 years old. So I think I will need every part I can get my hands on! Lets face it, they aren't making any more and haven't been since before my Grandfather was born!
Glen, I hope one day I have the problem of not being able to round up all my locks in about 10 mins.
I wonder why some guns had 'A', 'B' and 'C' Lock and other guns had '1', '2' and '3' lock? I wonder if that is a manufactures difference or maybe a time period difference or many MG08 vs MG08/15 difference!
Also one more thing OT... On the MG08 sled, what is that cam like piece on both side of the bar that runs from one side of the sled to the other just forward of the Gear box? I knew but can't remember!!! Its bugging me.

Hi!
Oh, I'm happy to have the problem, but part of it is that I've got the locks divvied up into boxes for each gun, tool kit, sled, etc. (!) It takes me a bit to get it all together, and some of it doesn't leave the suburban too often, so I can load it faster to go to the range.

I've got one, which is marked "C", which is then lined out and replaced with a "3" ! food for thought....

I believe it is a time period difference: Imperial stuff is locks "A,B,C" for each gun, while Nazi era locks are "1,2,3"...I wonder why some guns had 'A', 'B' and 'C' Lock and other guns had '1', '2' and '3' lock? I would support the theory that the Imperial lock sets are A b and C , as I too have an example with the capital letter crossed out, replaced by a number and has the winged eagle with 46 underneath.
I will also list my locks. I do not need working ones but definately interested in attempting to match numbers. As per my previous thread on feedblock matching numbers this is a good exercise and I hope we can all assist each other.

Currently I have about 60 MG08 locks and will make an effort to try and determine over time if I have any that match the numbers of guns owned by posters here. This is not a high priority for my use of time, but I'll try and help out.
